2022/23 Winter Damage Insurance Repairs Status, November 17

RMC continues to make substantial progress on repairing siding on our units. Here is their update from Friday, November 17, 2023:

Completed this week:

  • Unit 49 – we were made aware that the wall was damaged in this unit. Upon inspection we removed the siding and drywall, straightened out the wall, insulated both sides, hung drywall through texture and installed new siding. This is being textured today 11/17, then turned over to the owner  for painting.
  • Unit 48 – RMC repaired the metal roof at the chimney splitter. This is a temporary repair until the roof is replaced in this area.
  • All siding is complete on all buildings except for areas around windows that are being replaced and decks that need repaired.

Coming up:

  • Painter hasn’t been able to get started due to the weather. We did some exterior painting on another site and it didn’t turn out well due to the temperature and the wet siding. We plan to begin painting siding this next week, weather permitting.
  • Unit 42 chimney permit – After speaking with the building official on Monday, along with my roofer on the phone, the building department wants underlayment on the small area we are repairing. Even though there is no underlayment on the roof, he wants it. We sent him a class A product and he approved it the same day. However, they are making the permit go through plan check and say it will take 2-3 weeks to approve.
  • Roofer is completing his roof assessment for George and will have to him by Monday.
  • Awaiting engineering on the deck repairs.
  • Roofer is planning to start the roof repairs for the claim the week after Thanksgiving, weather permitting.

Our siding crews are complete for now and are pulling out of the job today. Heavy equipment is being picked up first of the week. I will keep you posted as we schedule the roofing and other remaining repairs.
